Hub Organised Concerts and Performances
One of the core roles of the Cornwall Music Education Hub is to provide children and young people with access to performance opportunities, whether it's to perform as part of a Hub ensemble or a school/community run group or to be inspired by watching world class professional musicians perform.
With the current COVID19 pandemic, we are unable to hold live performances but our young performers and music leaders have still been busy putting together some spectacular virtual performances for you to enjoy
Cornwall County Choirs
In April 2020, the singers of the Cornwall County Choirs recorded themselves singing the classic Cornish song, Cornwall My Home. This song, written by local musician and composer, Harry Glasson has a special place in the hearts of many people and was perfect for this 'lockdown' project.
Since it was released, this video has been seen tens of thousands of times via Facebook, YouTube, right across the world! Thank you to the choir leaders, Harry Glasson and of course the singers for being part of this very special project
In June 2020, the singers of the Cornwall Boys Choir joined male voice singers from across Cornwall for another fantastic virtual performance, this time of the Jeff Lynne song 'When I was a boy'
Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra
This virtual orchestra project features a performance of Beethoven's 'Rondino Pathetique' (arranged by Gareth Churcher) performed by players of the Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra in June 2020. All the players recorded themselves playing their parts at home. The recordings were then mixed by Gareth Churcher and set to a series of photographs of the players
Sax is our Business Recording
As lots of children didn't have the opportunity to sing their Songfest songs back in March, our Songfest music leaders and band have put together a special film featuring four of the songs for you to enjoy in school or at home - Songfest 2020 - Finale
GCSE Music Concerts
Each year the Cornwall Music Education Hub partners with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to offer spectacular concerts for GCSE Music students which feature live performances of set pieces with detailed analysis by the Hub's Secondary Support Lead, Patrick Bailey.
This year we will be holding two concerts - one at Princess Pavilions in Falmouth and one at Launceston Town Hall. To book places for your students please complete and return the booking form
